AccorHotels today announced the official opening of its first Mercure property in Yangon’s prime district. Managed by AccorHotels, the seven-storey Mercure Yangon Kaba Aye features 183 spacious rooms and suites ideal for families and long-staying guests.
Mercure Yangon Kaba Aye is located along Kaba Aye Pagoda Road just 10 km from Yangon International Airport and a short drive from University of Yangon. Featuring high ceilings and generous floor spaces of 32 sqm to 125 sqm, the guestroom décor draws inspiration from local Myanmar culture and craftsmanship and includes traditional lacquerware.
The rooms offer views of swimming pool or landscaped gardens, while suites on the higher floors overlooks the panoramic view of city’s lush greenery. The suites also come with a fully equipped kitchenette and a separate lounge and dining room.
“The opening of the first Mercure Yangon Kaba Aye capitalizes on the travel aspirations of Myanmar’s growing domestic and international tourism. Dubbed as ‘The Garden City of the East,’ the city is a melting pot of cultural diversities and communities,” said Patrick Basset, Chief Operating Officer of AccorHotels, Upper Southeast and Northeast Asia.
As part of the property’s extensive renovation, the newly remodeled MiCasa Restaurant & Bar offers guests all-day dining options from generous buffet breakfasts to evening cocktails and an à la carte selection with delectable local and international flavours. The chic and modern design of the restaurant provides a refreshing space for up to 200 for guests to dine, relax or simply enjoy the new bar overlooking the swimming pool.
For meetings, conferences, cocktail parties and weddings, the newly remodeled function spaces can accommodate up to 210 guests. The hotel also features a ‘Ready to Work’ space for business travellers working on-the-go, from single seats on an hourly basis to a monthly office rental for up to six people.
To refresh and re-energise, the hotel’s Sweat Club features state-of-the-art fitness facility and daily aerobics classes. To cool off the evening, the 21-metre lap pool provides a refreshing escape from the city, while the adjacent pool bar offers a selection of light bites and cocktails. Onsite babysitting services are also available for families with young children.
“We are extremely proud to be the first Mercure Hotel in Myanmar. Under a globally recognised brand, the hotel offers guests that are travelling to the city a local and authentic hospitality experience synonymous to the brand’s purpose and ambition,” said Richard Tin Tun, General Manager of Mercure Yangon Kaba Aye.
